Frankenstorm Sandy 2012

So not only did I experience the Blackout 2012 this summer in WV where I spent sweltering days without power, air conditioning, and water while I having to work doubles everyday during The Greenbrier Classic PGA, but I can also say I got a good taste of Frankenstorm Sandy.

It started with rain. And more rain. And even more rain. For a while I thought that might be all we get. Then I remembered I live on a Mountain Resort and we probably get snow when no else gets snow. I was right. About 11pm Monday night it changed over to snow. It hasn't stopped since. We are probably around a good 10+ inches right now. Now that is not as much as other areas but our is so heavy that it is weighted down. It it was light and fluffy, we would probably already be at 2 feet. We've been lucky in the sense that the roads have been maintained very very well. I however have been unlucky as the power went off yesterday at Noon and did not return until today at about 4pm. That was the longest 24+ hours of my life. Daylight hours were not so bad. We were prepared so we had candles, flashlights, and food. Once it got dark, it was FREEZING. Thank God for below freezing sleeping bags. I highly recommend them. We threw a couple on them on top of the bed and I did not get cold the entire night. And I am the worlds coldest person. Always. In the middle of summer. The house was still freezing all day today too. It was just starting to get miserable when the power came back on. I was probably starting to smell too. I feel much better now that there is heat flowing through the house, I have hot food in my belly, and I have had the worlds 2nd longest and hottest shower (the 1st was when I finally got one this summer). Now for laundry and cleaning up the mess that appears while living in the dark.

P.S. Did I mention the Boyfriend and I most likely were ready to throttle each other. We both happened to be off and well, we were bored. We read until it got dark. We played cards and I beat the crap out of him in Phase 10 (I always do). And I was starting to get really really fidgety. If we just could have had a tv to watch a movie or tv series dvd. We didn't even need cable. It's the simple things.

Time to be try to be productive. Or maybe just read.
