Raging Wildfires && Book Thrifting

I feel like my life is really boring right now and actually it's quite the opposite... starting with the Wildfire that is in Virginia spreading across the border into West Virginia as speak. Meaning it's close to me. Very close to me. I do not like this. Or any natural disaster. I am the biggest worrier when it comes to tornados and WV is like the least likely state to get them. Here's a picture right as we are crossing into WV.

The clouds that are covering the mountains is actually the smoke from the wildfire. It smells bad too. Yesterday on my way home there were dark black billowing clouds a few miles further away and I could actually see red flames from the mountain in the distance. Raging wildfires miles from my home... now you know why I haven't been updating. I've been out fighting these fires of course. Or packing up all my belongings in case of an evacuations of course. Have I mentioned I am horrified of all natural disasters. Mainly tornados but now wildfires are a close second. Oooo and earthquakes. We had one of those last summer while I was working on the Golf Course. Freaky.

Visiting my book addiction. I have box after box after too heavy to lift or budge box of books. From children's Dr. Seuss to The Hunger Games. Realizing I need a few dozen bookshelves to house this addiction. I didn't have any books lined up to read after The Hunger Games trilogy or in my possession so when I finished The Hunger Games and realized how epically good they were I hada small panic attack that I was now not only without another book to start but I was without another EPICALLY FANTASTIC STAY UP ALL NIGHT TO FINISH book to start. So I did what any other book nerd would do. I went out and bought a bunch of books. I now have over a dozen of unread new books to read =) I feel calm and serene. And broke as a joke. Insert "bright" idea now. I have started thrifting for books. Yep that's right. It's fantastic.

The books pictured are my finds from yesterday. Have you ever thought something you came across something meant just for you? That you were supposed to find it? I was going through this shelf of books and there are a couple that I knew were there just for me.

  • A Child Called It - Someone on facebook had just recommended it to me. I had just recently googled it.
  • Walking in Circles Before Lying Down - A dog talking to it's owner about the owner's horrible boyfriend choices? I'm in.
  • The Power of Now by Eckhert Tolle - borrowed from someone this summer and just recently thought about my own copy.
  • The Happiness Project - came up when I googled Quarter Life Crisis and I had never heard of it now I find it.. but I was going to order it from Amazon.
funny how things like this happen. It was fun looking searching for books. I hope to look for some more this weekend. It's definitely less expensive than my shopping habit.
